pics of the kiddos

The first picture is of a lake at the top of this pass that is right behind the house. It took 30 minutes to drive to and I thought I was giving Guinness shaken baby syndrome because of how bumpy it was, but the view was just beautiful.  I caught NO fish. :(  The next pic is obviously the kiddos and the next couple are of Kayla making faces.  The last one I said to her "look sad" and she DID. HAHAHAH good times with her.

The prayer at Grandma's funeral

Setting: 1000+ people at an 81 year olds funeral. Everyone in tears after a video shown of Grandma Lindley from a few years back. Uncle Bob is the last to speak about her and is going to give the Benediction. All of a sudden, Grandpa Lindley gets up, walks to the podium, and prays the most beautiful prayer EVER!

Eternal God we bow to acknowledge you to be our Creator, and your Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior. But most of all we honor you as our heavenly Father. In your arms we feel loved and secure.

I am grateful for the gifts you have given me, forgiveness and becoming your child. Your Word tells me you make all things beautiful. You made Lois beautiful and gave her as a gift to me for 60 years. I am thankful for her commitment to you, to me and to family. For her love. Today Lord she enjoys the fruit of that love. Thank you Lord for the example of her sacrificial love for family, for others. She gave herself to others with total sacrifice – forgetting herself. Above all she wanted to please you and finish well. You enabled her to do that. We praise you for your faithfulness to her, giving her courage and strength when she needed it. Thank you Lord that with her going home, your Word has new meaning for me. It is a love letter. You have given me a new perspective in prayer. Now Lord, to pray is to call home.

Thank you Lord for making heaven more real and vivid. We rejoice that meeting you Lord is in our future. We grieve but not as those who have no hope. We will see you Jesus, and Lois is already there. Oh what a hope!

Thank you Lord for these friends who have come in love because you touched their lives through Lois. Her greatest desire was that they might see you Jesus, and trust you for every aspect of their life.

Now Lord, we have a life to live! It is a gift from you – so focus our hearts on you that we may walk close to you. Lord that we too make a difference in someone’s life. Help each one of us see the person you want us to love for you.

We trust you for our future Lord, we know you have something special for each of us. Today we take your hand Lord with a new grip. Lead us Lord Jesus, we will follow.

In your precious name Lord, our Risen Savior, our coming Lord. Amen.

No

A friend of mine told me she didn't want to be one of those moms who ONLY has pictures of her kids on her blog...I agree.  Here are some pics of our time in CA a couple of weeks ago.  One picture is of Grandma Lindley a week before she passed.  She is sitting with cousin John & Julie.  The other picture of all the women & Grandpa Lindley is when we were folding Grandma's bulletin for her service on Tuesday.  One is of Joel and Kayla and Josh & Kayla.  She was really tired in that picture.  That was a day after she was released from the hospital.

what else...the kids!

Here are some pics I took of the kids the other day.  My mother said..."you don't have enough pictures of Guinness up close"...so here you go mama!!!

Matching PJ's

I thought this would make a good picture.  As you can see they were just fine for the first two shots, then kayla accidentally hit Guinness in the eye with a marker...then the third picture was taken.  :)  The other picture is of the view out the front door, but it was too dark..I missed the orange sky.

FINALLY

For a long time, many people have commented on how long Kayla's hair was.  On how her hair looks...like a mullet.  I thought the day would never come when I or someone could take some scissors to that mess.  After a cookie and sponge bob, Rachel (my brave cousin) cut off the mullet.  Here is a before and after shot of the cut. :)  I am very pleased.  I also have a picture of Guinness sitting in his jumpy chair.  He kind of likes it.

more pics

Here are some other pictures of the weekend.  She is in the jet, josh's arms, hospital bed and a wagon.  This wagon was a great idea because they could hook up the IV's to the back and I could wheel her around the whole hospital.  We had to stay in the Pediatrics ICU for most of the time, but we snuck out a few times. :)  Everyone was soo great with her.  She hates people touching her, but ....overall she was a trooper.

Drama

Well as some of you may have heard, my daughter LOVES drugs.  Exedrin to be exact.  August 1st, Kayla decided to swallow 35 exedrin migrain pills.  Within minutes of her swallowing, she came to me and said "uh oh" because she had one stuck to the bottom of her foot.  I was like "WHAT IS THAT??"  After finding the bottle that she got them out of and seeing that it was a NEW bottle with the shrink wrap still around the lid, we knew we had a problem.  We counted the pills left and subtracted from the original 50 and yup....she had swallowed 35.  We shoved her in the car and put Guinness in his seat and we were off to Yampa Hospital in Steamboat Springs.  We took her straight to emergency and they told us they had to pump her stomach.  WHAT?? I was soo scared.  She threw up twice (all over josh) then they had to put her to sleep.  They took us out of the room, pumped her stomach and put charcoal in it to absorb the drugs.  The doctor told us that with the amount of throw up there was no way she DIDN'T swallow all 35.  They took her to a private room where they monitored her from 3:30 pm till 8pm.  They did another test at 8 to check her asprin levels and they found that they were still too high to send her home.  We had committed to spending the night in the hospital.  Meanwhile we were planning on flying out the next day to CA for Grandma Lindleys funeral, so we had to change those tickets pretty soon.  At 10, a nurse came into the room and asked us if I wanted to go to Denver with her or did Josh.  We were both like "What?". She then told us that the doctor wants to Medevac her to Denver Childrens to get better care.  We were so shocked.  It sounded even more serious than we had thought.  They said they wanted an actual pediatric unit to monitor her and make sure her levels normalized.  So at midnight, Josh got in an ambulance with Kayla, then a jet to Denver, then a helecoptor to Denver Childrens.  Josh said it would have been exciting if it wasn't his daughter strapped in and the cause for the trip.  This was the scariest thing that has ever happened to either of us.  Here is our first born in a hospital bed with needles coming out of both arms and one leg and we are helpless to do anything.  Thanks to Denver Childrens and Yampa Medical who took such great care of her during her time.  She recovered by Sunday afternoon and we were on a plane Monday morning to CA for the funeral on Tuesday.  Here are some pics below of our eventful time.
